Still here!

Wow, I have been awful about blogging (an internet cable was cut here so access has been annoying) so here is an update:

1) Hugo had to be relocated to a better home. He was not meshing with apartment life so I found him a family out in Hatta with a big house and yard. Hopefully he is happier, we were sad but really it was for the best, he was destroying our apartment.

2) I have been in two car accidents in the past three weeks. I have never been in a car accident before besides a crack dealer rear ending me once on the west side of Chicago but it was very minor. The first one was my fault but I gave up coffee and I am sticking to that defense for the accident. The second accident was NOT my fault. A taxi driver took a wide corner came into my lane and hit me. He tried to blame it on me at the police station but luckily Chris had taken pictures with his cell phone. So, I have seen more red tape than I ever wanted to out of these incidents. I am now dealing with the insurance claims which are a nightmare. The police are very nice here though. Funny though- I have only talked to a police officer one other time in my life- in Virginia I got pulled over by a cop that looked about 18 because I was going five miles over the speed limit on my way to TN to move in with Chris. He just gave me a friendly warning and went on his way. Now here I am in a foreign country dealing with cops left and right.

3) I got caught up in a important convoy today coming home from work. I think it must have been the Sheikh, I tried to look at him when they passed me but all the cars surrounding him made it difficult.

4) I think I am taking a new job working as an assistant to a news correspondent from the US here. It sounds exciting!

5) Chris and I are meeting in Spain later this week for a few days. I haven't been since 1997 when I was a poor university student. I had two outfits in a backpack, a couple hundred dollars and a rough guide to Europe and it lasted me 5 weeks. Not much splurging happened so I am looking forward to seeing the inside of restaurants this time vs. only bars.



I think that about concludes my updates but I will be faithful yet again to the blog...I promise!

Sorry for the lack of blogging

The blog was stuck in Arabic for the past couple of weeks which is why there have not been any new posts for a while and now I am still having trouble posting and still have no spell check (which of course I shouldn't need but I have become oh so dependent on that safety net) so pardon the technical difficulties...regular service will resume.

Hugo

Hugo came into our lives last week through a series of coincidences. He was the victim of a Dubai divorce and was left homeless by his broken home. He found his way into our home (and hearts) way of a few foster home. He is criminally cute, horribly naughty and his hobbies include chewing things, finding things to mess with and occasionally undoing all of his potty training (although we have come a LONG way in that area). He seems happy in his new home and this is a photo of him on his new favorite spot, the back of the couch.
